Chess Rhythm And Blues

need some help for history of rock and roll :D ?

TRUE OR FALSE :
1. Before it was known as Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues music was often referred to as ‘race music.’
2.Prior to the development of Rock and Roll young people generally listened to the same music as their parents
3.Pop music radio stations in the early 50s did not compete with Rhythm and Blues radio stations for listeners
4.Compared to Rhythm and Blues singers white pop music singers were far less concerned about the emotional energy of their performances.
5.Rockabilly music was created at Chess Records in Chicago.

1) FALSE. Even though I’m only 29, I am an expert on this era of music. Rock & Roll is a combination of Black Music, which included: Blues, Jump Blues, Jazz, & Boogie-Woogie all better know as “Race Music” & White music which was basically County, Western Swing, Blue Grass, all of which were called “Hillbilly Music”, as well as other musical influences, but those are the primary influences. Rock n Roll is NOT BLACK MUSIC. and I’m a BLACK woman saying this, I do not care how many black people want to rewrite history, Rock and Roll is a combination of both cultures. Rock n Roll is the marriage of Black and White music and culture equally.

2) TRUE

3) TRUE. Pop Music in the 1950’s was geared toward white people. Rhythm & Blues (it wasn’t called that in the 1950’s but I know what you mean) was geared toward black people. There were exceptions, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Lena Horne, Sammy Davis Jr, and others (but these were about the most popular) each were black artists that appealed to both the white & black community.

4) TRUE & FALSE. Stop saying Rhythm and Blues, that genre of music did not exist in the 1950’s it started in the late 1960’s, although has it’s roots in the 1940’s. But to answer your question, True and False. Most black singers of the day showed more emotion in their music, because they sang of tough times, and you could feel it in their words and voice. White American singers, sang with less emotion, but with more romance. White Latin singers of the day (Italian & Spanish mostly) sang with both a lot of emotion and a lot of romance.

5) FALSE. Rockabilly has absolutely no ties, at all, to Chess Records nor Chicago. Chess Records was where Chuck Berry & Bo Diddley, among others, recorded their songs. Rockabilly started at Sun Records in Memphis Tennessee.

When Concord Music purchased Fantasy Records in 2006, the bulging Stax catalog came along for the ride. Not a bad deal, especially since Stax remains one of the richest and most vital sources of ’60s and ’70s soul, blues, and R&B. The newly reactivated label’s debut release is a lavishly boxed double-disc set of 50 highlights–as opposed to hits–from the Memphis label’s voluminous vaults to celeb…
